Textual Change Log

The Love Letter Bible is not a new translation. Its base text is Brenton’s English Septuagint (Old Testament, 1851) and the English Revised Version (New Testament, 1881), rendered verbatim. Every departure from that base — a modernized name, a retired pronoun, a verb ending, an obsolete word — is recorded below with the original reading, the new reading, the reason, the editor who made it and the moment it was accepted. Nothing enters the text silently.

Name modernization sweep

Editorial Board — ALTARED Church · Aug 31, 2026, 12:00 AM · 3,190 substitutions · 57 rules

Brenton transliterates proper names out of the Greek, so familiar figures appear under unfamiliar spellings (Esaias, Aggæus, Nabuchodonosor). The Love Letter Bible prints each name in its modern English form so a reader recognizes who is speaking, exactly as the NKJV modernizes the KJV. Only proper names are touched: no wording, word order, or verse numbering changes, and the Brenton base text is preserved verbatim underneath. Greek-spelling subtitles on book headings were removed at the same time.

Substitutions are case-sensitive and word-bounded, applied at display time to every reading surface (Read, Scroll, and Oral Tradition narration). Base text: Brenton English Septuagint (1851) · English Revised Version (1881).
